My first Gender Reveal Cake
Lately, it’s been a fad to have gender-reveal parties for families who are about to have a child soon. And as a cake decorator wannabe, I’ve been wanting to make and design a gender reveal cake.
And you can’t imagine how happy I am when my sister became pregnant with his first child! The first thing I said to her was I’m going to bake a gender reveal cake for her. I was thrilled when the doctor said the gender results will be named under my name so I could be the first one who will know!
Months had passed and the day had come where she had her gender lab test. But unfortunately, when she transferred to another doctor, the gender result was immediately revealed to them. But I still insisted to make the results be secret to my mother and siblings. And so I did this cute gender reveal smash cake.
Please excuse my lettering, it’s not yet my expertise. |
It’s a marbled cake with colored candies inside. My sister requested to make the cake half blue and pink. At first I hesitated since it would be odd to write on a two colored cake but I think it went fairly well.. :D
Yes! It’s a boy! Nanay (Mom) guessed it right! :) |
All was happy and well until…
I was about to put the cake on the other side of the table since there’s more light coming from the window then the plate was tripped by a seat :( We were really shookt but I just laughed it off since I already had a lot of pictures of the cake. If it happened and there’s still no pictures taken then my heart would really sink. I would probably cry. Imagine, hours and money you have invested on that cake and NO picture of the final product?!? Oh no! But then, thank God and he still blessed me with lots of pictures before this horrible thing happened.
Two things occured to me that day for the first time. Me making a gender reveal cake and me making the cake dive upside down on the table, Although, I hope we had a video of the incident.
It will surely be a funny memory to keep haha! How about you? I know every baker have his/her own mishaps in the kitchen. Share yours on the comment below. :)
